Florida's Very Own
Kevin Michael Haulotte (born November 4th, 1993), known professionally as KEVIN NOVA, is an American rapper and producer. Born at St. Peter's in New Brunswick, New Jersey but raised in Palm Beach County, Florida. He is a founding member of the hip-hop collective, Novation Records, with whom he's released three mixtapes.
KEVIN NOVA released his debut mixtape, Life of Sin, in May 2016. The project went on to achieve local critical acclaim in both central and south Florida. He then followed up with a four track EP, Before It's Too Late, in September 2018, and a twelve track mixtape, Destination: Heaven in January 2020. Nova's most recent body of work is his seven track EP, Hopefully This Makes Sense, released in July 2021.
An Emerging Artist
Kevin was raised by both of his parents. His father mainly listened to classic rock and the blues while his mother mainly enjoyed listening to pop and cumbia (Colombian folk music).
It was Nova's brother who introduced him to hip-hop with artists such as 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Method Man, and Eminem. He began writing his first raps at the age of seven. Over the next five years he would begin booking sessions at local studios, rapping over beats to shape his sound.
Live and Direct
Inspired by musical genres other than just hip-hop, Kevin shaped his sound over time by self-teaching himself the piano and guitar. By the time he turned 15, he was already producing some records for himself and other local artists across Florida.
In December 2016, Nova went on to graduate from Full Sail University with a degree in Recording Arts. It was there where he learned the more technical side of the creative process, which further enhanced the shape of his sound.
